Glastonbury Trip: Leaving Times

Sent: 2008-04-25 10:30:07

Hi to all folks coming on the Glastonbury trip!

This is just an email to confirm that we'll be meeting outside Blackwell's of the Student's Union on Friday May 2nd at 5:00pm, for a leaving time of 5:15pm. The journey to Glastonbury will take just under 2 hours, and we'll arrive abut 7:00pm at our destination.

Upon arrival you'll be due to pay the accommodation fees for the weekend: £28 per person in total (apart from the couples who have requested double rooms - they are a little more expensive.) The hostel we're staying in is full self-catered with a large kitchen and dining area, complete with crockery, cutlery, and cooking equipment, so you might want to bring some food to cook yourself for that first evening. Alernatively, there are some pubs which do nice food, and a general convenience store selling groceries (including organic) if you want to pick something up when you get to Glasto.

Other than food and money, you'll want to make sure you bring:

- An extra towel for when you undoubtedly want to experience the Red Spring healing waters at Chalice Well Gardens
- Decent walking shoes/trainers - the climb up the Tor can be tough, and the shopping will tire you out.
- Photo ID (for accomodation and for the purchase of alcoholic substances.)

Don't worry about sleeping bags: the hostel provides you with bedding and pillows; it also has very nice hot showers.

One other thing to add to our itinerary: The White Spring. http://www.whitespring.org.uk/  The Spring is holding a "Film Walk Through" in the temple: "Dance by Grail Maidens and Matthew Read" which depicts the legends of Glastonbury throughout the temple itself. This will be held on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th, continuously through 1:30-4:30pm, so we can pop in during one of those times and have a look, as well as experiencing the beautiful temple in its own right.

I would also appreciate it if those who haven't yet emailed me their contact number and next of kin name/contact number could do so ASAP (kimhuggens@yahoo.co.uk) since we cannot leave Cardiff without those details!

Blessings,

Kim Huggens
