UKPagan Moot with Talk: "An Eclectic Approach to the Wheel of the Year - myth, imagery, dance, drums, poetry, mystery and syncretism"

Sent: 2008-03-25 13:10:12

Hi folks,

This month's UKPagan pub moot is taking place on Sunday 6th April, and is held Upstairs (private function room) at the Rummer Tavern on Duke Street, Cardiff, from 8pm onwards and organised by members of the UK Pagan forum. It's a great way to meet Pagans in the South Wales Pagan community, have a few drinks, and listen to talks. This month's talk (beginning at 8:30pm)will be given by Kim Huggens, on "An Eclectic Approach to the Wheel of the Year: myth, imagery, dance, drums, poetry, mystery, and syncretism".

During this talk, Kim Huggens will explore the wide variety of ways that the Wheel of the Year's festivals can be celebrated, both inside a ritual circle and without. She will look at the use of techniques such as dance, drumming, mystery plays, sacred games, and drama, in order to give people ideas on how to liven up their festival celebrations. She will also take a look at some inspirational ideas from historical pagans (boy, did those Maenads and Mithraists know how to throw a good party!) and introduce some additional festivals that aren't found in the traditional Wiccan eight which you might want to add to your own personal Wheel of the Year.

The organizers asks for a £1 fee for attendance at the moot, to cover the cost of room hire. Other than that, just bring enough money for alcohol!

Hope to see you there!

Blessings,

Kim Huggens (yay for blatant self-advertizing)
