What is the Cardiff University Pagan Society?

The Pagan Society is a group of diverse individuals who all share similar views and interests in the occult, pre-Christian religion, Earth-based religion, New Age topics, and magic.

We aim to provide a way for Pagans, others of like-mind, or those who are simply interested in learning more, to meet new people and learn about topics of interest. We also hope to provide a link between the in-the-closet stage and the stage where Pagans may be looking to join a coven or group. Note that the Cardiff University Pagan Society is not a coven or working group, though we can provide links to such groups for those who are interested.

What if you're not Pagan?

Don't worry! You don't have to be Pagan to join the society, and we don't deal exclusively with Paganism. As well as opening up Paganism to people, we try to give information and experiences in pre-Christian religion, magic, esoteric philosophy, divination, mythology, folklore, etc. Many of our members are Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, or atheist, and simply come along to learn more about Paganism out of academic curiosity, and some are just interested in one aspect, such as Tarot or magic. The society will not evangelise or try to convert anybody to Paganism, and as far as we're concerned diversity is beauty.

Who runs CUPS?

CUPS is run by the executive committee, who are elected by CUPS members at the AGM (Annual General Meeting). (More about the committee...)

What do I do if I want to join the society or receive information about your events?

To join the society simply sign up here, or you can email me at with your name and email address. You will then be added to our mailing list, through which you will receive information and updates for all our events (the exception is the weekly socials: since the time and place does not change). You do not have to be a member to attend any of our events or socials, but being a member means you get all the information about our events.
